A motor van has a single rear door with a width which is only about one third of that of the van body. The van is fitted with a hinged loading platform (3) which can raise loads from ground level to the levl of the floors of the van. This loading platform is mounted in a sliding guide (2) so that it can be aligned with the door when in use and then moved to one side by means of a jack (20) and swung to a vertical position when the vehicle is in motion.
