A floating cover for a store tank for a liq. partic. petroleum, consists of two horizontal partitions connected to one another and maintained apart so to form boxes. The upper partition includes means of collecting and discharging rainwater. The two partitions are made of thin ribbed sheets. The upper partition is pref. constituted by an assemblage of sheets having corrugations and an inclination to the horizontal such as to direct rainwater towards gutters provided on the partition. The lower partition is pref. constituted by ribbed sheets in U-form, of which the base is in contact with the liq. and the vertical walls connected to two adjacent ribbed sheets are joined by clasps at their upper edge. The floating cover is lighter than existing floating covers and is less costly. Putting the cover into use is facilitated because of its relative lightness. The constituent elements can easily be fabricated and assembled on site, reducing costs.
