<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a display cell of good hermetical sealing characteristic and high reliability by using the polybenzthiazole or polybenzoxazole film having undergone orientation treatment as the orientation control films of the twisted effect type liquid crystal display device using nematic liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:Polybenzthiazole such as the polymer synthesized from 3, 3-dimercaptobenzidine and diphenyl therephthalate or benzoxazole such as the polymer synthesized from 4, 4'-dihydro-m-benzidine and isophthaloyl chloride is used as the orientation control films 3 of the liquid crystal display cell formed by sealing a pair of glass substrates 1 provided with transparent conductive films 2 and orientation control films 3 by an adhesive agent 5, sealing liquid crystal 4 threin and disposing polarizing plates 6, 6 on both sides. The abovementioned polymer is dissolved in a polar solvent and the solution is coated and dried on the substrates 1 to be made to films of about 300 to 1500Angstrom thick, which are then subjected to rubbing treatement, whereby the orientation control films 3 are formed. The effect of the abovementioned rubbing treatment withstands heat treatment at about 480 deg.C for 10 minutes.</p> |
