The flexible rail mounting comprises a concrete sleeper (2) beneath and transverse to the rail (1). The sleeper has a flat central span (3) upon which rests a thin layer of elastic material (4), typically rubber. Between the lower flange of the rail and the shoulder of the sleeper is an intermediate member (5) of trapezoidal form. The intermediate packing piece is held down by a flexible plate (6e and retained by a bolt (7) with a nut (8) with a hexagonal head screwed down in contact with the flexible plate. The mounting is esp. for long welded rails, and is used to prevent vibrations in the rails in the horizontal plane. In the case of electrical conductor rails, the intermediate packing piece is made of insulating material. The fitting enables welded joints to be made between rail sections without the risk of damage to the join from the insulator. The intermediate packing piece has shoulders which prevent upward of sideways movements of the rail.
|
