The transistor receiving a power signal to supply the current for a LED is in between the anode of the LED and the power supply. The controller including a microprocessor supplies the receiving power signal to the phototransistor at times selected by the cotnroller. Alternatively the transistor can be a driver IC with a NOT gate receiving the power. The sensor circuit for the floppy disc driver can reduce the power consumption.
