The heat pump uses a vaporisable medium in a circuit comprising a vapouriser in the open air, a compressor connected to the vapouriser at its suction side, and a condenser connected at the inlet to the pressure side of the compressor and at the outlet via a pipe to the vapouriser inlet. Ice deposited on the vapouriser is defrosted by a heat-transfer device containing a heat-transfer medium. This receives heat from the ground as the heat source, and can be thermally coupled to the piping so as to deliver heat to the medium inside the latter.
