Warp yarn monitor has an electrically conductive bar supporting a number of freely pivotable metallic blades formed by bellcranks, one arm of which forms a counter-wt. and the other arm is provided with a bifurcated end which engages the warp yarn. On yarn breakage the blade pivots about the bar to contact with its arm a second conductive bar insulated from the first bar, the contacted bars being connected to the electrical tripping circuit for the textile machine. Used in warp beams in looms or warp knitting machines. Monitor is instantly responsive to a yarn break whose location is indicated by the angularly displaced blade whilst the machine is tripped instantly and brought to rest before the broken yarn reaches the monitor.
