The offshore roll-on roll-off ferry has a special floating bridge (4) which is slid through the bow doors (5) into the water and which serves to transfer the vehicles from the ship to the shore without any quays. The bridge is normally stored under the loading deck and has side protections which are folded for storage. It is moved between the ship and shore by cable winches.
