The pressure intensifier is used in a closed hydraulic system filled with a noninflammable fluid, for machines for underground mining, without cavitation and bubble formation. An expansion element (9) is fitted into the closed hydraulic system, to increased the pressure under the influence of a pressurised fluid with limited compressibility. The expansion element consists of a piston (9) guided in the vessel (1) forming part of the hydraulic circuit. The piston is divided by a guide tube (6) forming a compressed air supply pipeline which encloses a central tube (10) forming an annular outside chamber (18). The cylindrical internal chamber (17) is connected to carry compressed air.
