PURPOSE:To prevent a superconductive coil from burning out by rapidly collecting accumulated energy by inserting an external resistance into the coil. CONSTITUTION:On detecting the quenching of superconductive coil 12 excited by flux pump 11, quenching detector circuit 15 energizes DC bias power supply 17 to enlarge the DC bias magnetic field of pump 11, thereby making the pump system conductive constantly. At the same time, AC control power source 16 is also energized to stop the supply of the revolving and shifting magnetic field. Therefore, the energy accumulated in coil 12 is emitted to external resistance 18 and then collected. The rapid collection of the energy of coil 12 in this way can prevent the above-mentioned coil from burning out and an accident attending on it. Further, the waste of energy by resistance 18 can be avoided and more effect can also be expected by providing a switch between external resistance 18 and coil 12 in order to connect resistance 18 during energy emission. |
