The invention relates to a method for constructing or updating routing tables for a modular conveyor system (1), wherein a module controller (s1-10) of a conveyor module (m1-m10) determines, for each inlet of the module (m1-m10), the costs at which at least one destination (a1, a2) of the conveyor system (1) can be reached from there and sends a cost message comprising the destination (a1, a2) and the associated cost value to the module controllers (s1-s10) of the affected predecessor modules (m1-m10). After receiving a cost message, module controllers for conveyor modules (m1-m10) having at least two outlets update a respective routing table using the received cost value and, if the update causes the lowest-cost transport path to change, sends a cost message comprising the affected destination (a1, a2) and an associated cumulative cost value to the module controllers (s1-s10) of the affected predecessor modules (m1-m10). Cost messages are each sent with a delay of a time period that is proportional to the share of the local cost value in the sent cost value. The invention can be used, for example, for luggage conveyor systems and allows routing tables to be constructed independently using reduced communication effort. |
