The oscillator has two emitter coupled transistors, whose collectors are connected to a circuit containing the crystal and other frequency determining components. In order to achieve a wide tuning range, a first transistor is used as switched current source supplying the frequency determining feed-back circuit. This circuit containing an inductance (L1) and a capacitance diode (D1), a fundamental frequency quartz crystal (Q) and a capacitor C1) in series with the quartz crystal. The two transistors (T1, T2) have their collector terminals connected together and to a current source (Io).
