<p>The invention is directed to fluorinated compounds of the formula wherein Rf is a perfluoroalkyl or perfluoroalkoxyperfluoroalkyl group, R1 is a branched or straight chain alkylene, alkylenethioalkylene, alkyleneoxyalkylene or alkyleneiminoalkylene group, X is oxygen or an amino group, Q is an organic group containing at least one amino group and y is zero or 1, and the corresponding succinimides. These compounds are useful as surfactants, especially in aqueous wetting and film forming compositions. These compositions which may contain further surfactants spread on fuel surfaces suppressing vaporization, when diluted with water. Because of this property the aqueous solutions of the compositions are effective as fire fighting agents.</p> |
