<p>A steam ironing press of the type having upper and lower plates movable relatively to each other and capable of being pressed with their opposing faces against a garment or item of linen to be smooth ironed, has a steam generator in the upper plate and an elastic cushion which absorbs differences in thickness in the lower plate. The steam generator incorporated in the upper plate consists of a metal cased resistor (56), aligned parallel to the sole (55) of the plate, and in contact with an evaporation surface (58). This separates an upper evaporation chamber (24) from a lower steam distribution chamber (61). The bottom wall of this chamber is formed by the sole plate (55) which has perforations (57) for the passage of the steam. The steam generator is fitted with a nozzle (40) for projecting water over at least part of the evaporation surface (58), heated by the resistor. The press is for domestic use and is easily manipulated and can be used without danger. It is compact, its costs of production is low and shining and wear are eliminated.</p> |
