Wet cleaning of gas streams containing solids uses scrubber with inlet for the dirty gas with inlet branch on this for the wash liquor. This enters the centre of a rotating drum. The drum has a ring of flights to impart radial motion to the gas. Around the flights is a cylinder with perforations in it. The gas/liquid mixtures enters the centre and is thrown outwards by the rotor. The liquid/solids mixture which forms is knocked out by an impingement type separator and the resulting slurry drained off. For cleaning dirty gas streams. Gives a maximum active surface with forced acceleration of the gas stream so the washing effect is not dependant on an externally generated velocity in the gas stream.
