The playing card shuffling machine has the cards arranged in a position in which the upper and/or lower side of the pack is free. Cards are then removed from the pack being taken either from the upper and/or the lower side. The cards removed are then conveyed in a flow having more than one layer. The flow of playing cards is then divided into separate sections of a width which largely corresponds to the measurements of one card in the direction of movement of the conveyor flow. The separate sections are then stacked. The playing cards are held by two clamping jaws (112) facing each other made as lockable and fixable rollers.
