The carrier, which is impregnated with a corrosion-inhibiting substance, consists of an open-cell foam. It may contain an impregnating agent such as chloroparaffin or asphalt bitumen. The wt. per unit vol. of foam carrier to impregnating agent and to inhibitor is 40:120:22kg. The impregnated carrier is compressed by coiling. The compressed foam material suppresses sublimation of the corrosion inhibitor to a min. without having to use a vacuum pack or special wrappers. Used to prevent corrosion of motor car chassis and to act as a seal.
