The present invention provides an improved electrographic apparatus which includes means for developing an electrostatic latent image on an image bearing member. The image is then developed with a liquid developer which includes toner particles in a liquid carrier. The supply of liquid developer is held in a container, and means are provided for circulating the developer between the container and the developing means. A filter is located in the path of circulation of the developer. As the developer contacts the filter during the operation of the apparatus coagulations of toner particles are dispersed.
