The electronic watch is provided with an arrangement for indicating the remaining lifetime of a battery which powers it, that is to say to signal the approach of the end of the lifetime of the battery. To do this, an arrangement for controlling the display (4) of this watch, which may be analog or digital, receives, when the voltage of the battery is sufficient, regular pulses at a one-second tempo. By contrast, when the voltage of the battery is insufficient, the watch receives pulses which are grouped, for example a group of five close pulses every five seconds. The irregular movement of the seconds indicator, a hand for example, will warn the user of the end of the lifetime of the battery. <IMAGE>
