A section (2) of the exhaust pipe forms a curve between two other sections. The cross section of the curve consists of two semi-circles (3) joined along their edges by semi circular projecting lobes (4). The bend introduces flexibility in to the exhaust pipe and the special cross section gives it an ability to deform which adds to the flexibility. Flanges (7) joining the curved section to thestraight parts are extended and grip arubber cushion (8) between them. This gives further improvement to the desired combination of strength and flexibility.
