PURPOSE:To prevent the capacity of an electric double layer capacitor from abruptly decreasing at a high temperature load test by employing a material of conductive carbon black as a polarizable electrode. CONSTITUTION:A polarizable electrode is formed by mixing tetrafluoroethylene as a binder with conductive carbon black made of furnace carbon black having 700m<2>/g or more of specific surface area and 130ml/100g or less of oil absorption amount, forming the mixture in a sheet state, and punching it in a disc shape. Electrolyte is formed by dissolving quaternary ammonium salt as solute in an organic solvent made of carbonates or glimes. The carbonates include ethylene carbonate, etc., and the glimes include methyl diglime, etc. The quaternary ammonium salt of the solute includes borofluoride salt of tetraalkyl ammonium, etc. When the carbonates are employed as the solvent, the change rate of the capacity after it is left stand for 1000hrs in an atmosphere at 70 deg.C becomes -5 to -10%, which is 1/6-1/2 of a conventional example. |
