Novel 1-acyl-3(5)-phenyl-1,2,4-triazoles, which are useful as antiinflammatory agents, are provided having the structure <CHEM> wherein R is lower alkyl or cycloalkyl, R<1> is lower alkyl, or cycloalkyl, and X is hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, nitro or trifluoromethyl.
