1,013,563. Filters. R. J. STEVENS. April 29, 1963 [Feb. 5, 1962], No. 4310/62. Headings B1D and BIT. A plurality of thin plates perforated by an etching or electrolytic process is arranged, with the perforations of adjacent plates overlapping, between two outer plates 5, 5A, Fig. 4, each outer plate having half the number of perforations, so that fluid entering at 4 flows edgewise between the plates and leaves at 4A. Two such assemblies are secured between grids, Fig. 8, depending from a circular plate 6, Fig. 6, and placed in a pipe 6A for inward and upward flow. Fig. 12 (not shown) depicts a similar assembly of circular discs. Fig. 17 shows a filter of the kind according to the invention with means for cleaning. Inlet valve 14E and filtrate valve 14H are closed, and a valve 15A for admitting cleansing fluid is opened. An exhaust valve 14F is also opened so that fluid and residue leaving by pipes 14C and 14D may pass through it. Specification 721,592 is referred to.
|
