Continuous mfr. of upholstered panels with a heavily creased face - by lamination of textile covers to enclose a series of rigid foam cores

Composite panels are made by depositing a series of bars of blocks of cellular material at intervals on the internal face of a textile lever and then covering the blocks with a second textile layer which is pressed between the blocks to be bonded with the inside face of the initial cover. Appts. is described for automatically dispensing and assembling the constituent layers. Used esp. for materials for upholstering seating components on transport, e.g. trains, ships etc. to produce attractively textured and comfortable materials in large or moderate quantities at low unit cost.
