PURPOSE:The electroslag welding method which can save the welding material, the power consumption, and the welding time, by dividing in the direction of breadth the weld zone of the parent metal whose upper end is not horizontal, and by welding up to the necessary height at every section of the weld zone with the rise of surface of the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The backing metal 4' is arranged up to the position higher than the upper end of the parent metal 1 whose upper end is not horizontal, and the circumference of the groove is surrounded. The arc is started on the starting tab 5, and the molten pool 10 is formed correspondingly to the weaving and rising of electrodes A-F. The weld metal 11 is formed; and the partition part (a) is inserted between electrodes A and B when the surface of the molten metal approaches to the top face of the run-off tab 6 and the lower top face of the backing metal 4'; hereby, the supply of electricity to the electrode A is stopped. When the molten metal between the tab 6 and the partition part (a) solidifies, electrodes A, B are removed away, and the partition part (b) is inserted for solidifying the molten metal between partition parts a and b. These proceduress are repeated, and the last electroslag welding is carried out between the last partition part (e) and the run-off tab 8. |
