Pneumatic tire tread

A tread 12 capable of being used in all seasons and weather conditions comprises a substantially centrally located circumferential rib 14 and a plurality of independent blocks 16 in lateral portions of the tread. The blocks 16 are placed so as to provide two circumferentially extending grooves 20, one on either side of the rib 14, and a plurality of laterally extending grooves 22 which extend from each groove 20 to the adjacent tread edge 24 of the tire. The rib 14 may have a width of 5-20% of the total tread width W, and, as considered in plan, the rib and blocks may form less than 65% of the total area of the tread.
