The stabilising equipment, partic. for ships, has open-ended fins (14) projecting from cylindrical hull-penetrating bushes (13). Jacks control bush position on the sleeve. Inside each sleeve is a mounting for a variable speed, reversible electric-motor driving a rotor (7) outside the hull coaxial with the bush, for stabilising by Magnus effect. A flow diverter (16) within the fin, lies behind the rotor and is movable relative to it. On retraction, the flow diverter locks into the fin.
