The flat storage and transport container is for fresh fruits, fish, cheese or vegetables, and is of rectangular shape. the open, box shaped containers can be stacked due to two lifting rails (10) on either end. They protrude above the top edge (6) on the container, thus acting as spacers. The container is made from a single blank, either cardboard or a similar pliable material, such as certain plastics. The fold lines, pressed into the flat blank, are such that when the folding operation is completed, all four container walls have twin layers of cardboard.
