PURPOSE:To obtain the thickness slide oscillator having small size and excellent frequency response, by taking the ratio of the width to the thickness within a specific range, in AT cut crystal oscillators. CONSTITUTION:In the AT cut crystal oscillator taking the X axis as length, Y' axis as thickness, and Z' axis as width, the resonant frequency when the width Zo is changed with a given thickness Yo, the resonant frequency fT of thickness slide oscillation shows straight line C, and the resonant frequency fW of width slide oscillation is as hiperbola D. When fT=fW, Zo/Wo=1.52 and every oscillation is combined, enabling together oscillation. In the region E in which Zo/Yo is in the range of 1.53 to 1.56, fW is lower than fT by 7000 to 30000 ppm, and the effect of width slide oscillation is a little remained to the thickness slide oscillation. In this case, the resonant frequency versus temperature performance of the thickness slide oscillation, has extremely broader flat temperature region (solid lines), becauses of the width slide oscillation having negative temperature characteristics and the increased bonding at low temperatures to the perofmance of an infinite plate (dotted lines). |
