Water-filled fuel element depository - with cantilever supports above first for second group of fuel elements

A water-filled depository for fuel elements of light water reactors consists of a concrete structure in an excavation for the basin walls in which the fuel elements are lowered in a storage frame. Cantilever supports are fitted to the walls above the storage frame on which a carrier slab for a second storage frame can be arranged. This increases the storage capacity of such depositories with little effort and helps to alleviate the bottleneck in the reprocessing of spent fuel elements.
