Each of the two bag opening expanding units (1) is constructed for a different size (height) of bag opening and can be moved vertically. The units each comprises two neighbouring, upright thin plates (10, 11), one of which (11) is fixed and serves as a guide plate while the other is an expanding plate (10) and can swivel vertically about an axis at its rear end. Each guide plate has an inlet guide (11a) surface for the goods to be packaged. The guide surface lies at right angles to the vertical plate so that the surfaces of the two plates are directed horizontally towards one another.
