The hinge-fitting is for use on timber windows or doors and has hinge-axle (1) on an embedded diametrical pin (10). The pin is inserted in a blind hole (4) in the door frame (2) and is secured sense by a transverse locking-bolt (6, 11). The pin and the bolt constitute a rack and pinion mechanism enabling the pin to be adjusted. The hole (5) for the locking-bolt is offset from that of the pin by a distance less than their average dia. and the locking-bolt can be adjusted from the exterior of the frame. The locking bolt may have a tubular embedded head (6) which receives a locking screw (11). The head may be traversed by a segmental circumferential channel; and the barrel flanking the channel may be ribbed (7).
