A torch comprises a cylindrical battery housing 34, a carrier 40 for holding the stem of a lamp bulb 42 at the front end of said housing, which carrier is supported by at least one radial stop 51, and a reflector 16 for said lamp bulb, the carrier having at least one axially parallel guide surface 54 and at least one radial stop surface 53, with which corresponding surfaces 49, 51 of the battery housing are associated, and to provide a firm support for the carrier on the housing, either the axial extent of an axially parallel guide surface amounts to at least 12% of the internal diameter of the battery housing and/or the radial extent of a radial guide surface amounts to at least 25% of the internal diameter of the battery housing.
