[Also in Divisions B1 and C3] A flocculation additive for use in the clarification of water comprises a dispersion of 1 gm/I. of cellulose-free sodium alginate in demineralized water containing less than 100 p.p.m. of calcium carbonate. The dispersion is mixed with the water to produce a concentration of from 0À2 to 0À5 p.p.m. of alginate in the water. Aluminium or iron salts may be used as flocculating agents. |
