Dental implant

The implant intended for permanent attachment of artificial teeth, crowns or bridges, comprises an approximately flat base (24) intended to be embedded in the bone tissue (18) of the ridge of the jaw. The base (24) extends transversely with respect to the axis of the root and its marginal part has a column (28) whose end which extends beyond the gum (32) forms a support (20) for a prosthesis (22). Openings (50) are formed in the base (24) in order to improve anchoring of the implant. A stabiliser element is formed on the base (24), laterally spaced from the latter and situated opposite an opening (50). Such a dental implant is self-stabilising in the bone tissue in order to resist biting forces which tend to pivot the tooth around its centre of rotation; the latter, which is normally situated at a certain depth in the root of the natural tooth, is situated nearer the base of the crown in order to produce better balancing of the rotational moments of the implant. <IMAGE>
