1,151,300. Making bearing surfaces. DR. ING. h.c.F. PORSCHE K.G. 28 Dec., 1967 [28 Jan., 1967], No. 58766/67. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F1] A method of surface treating parts of highspeed internal-combustion engines which are subjected to wear, comprises applying a molybdenum layer to such surfaces by plasma deposition. The surfaces so treated comprise valve stems, crank-pins and crank-shaft journals. A titanium alloy crank-shaft has a molybdenum layer 0À1-0À2 mm. thick deposited in recesses on the journals and crank-pins, the layer being subsequently ground to size. When applied to a valve stem, the deposited layer 11 is tapered in thickness towards its edges 12. |
