1422447 Coated fabrics UNIROYAL INC 5 April 1973 [10 April 1972] 16295/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] A coated fabric for an inflatable air cushion restraint has a coating of a blend of polychloroprene rubber and a rubbery interpolymer of at least two different alpha-monoolefines with at least one copolymerisable polyene, which may be non- conjugated or conjugated. Preferably the coating comprises a blend of from 98-40 parts, preferably 75-65 parts, by weight of polychloroprene rubber and correspondly 10-60 parts, preferably 25-35 parts, of a rubbery interpolymer. Fillers, e.g. carbon black and silica and vulcanising agents may be present. The coating may be a blend of polychloroprene rubber, ethylene-propylene-diene rubber, carbon black, hydrated silica, magnesium oxide, which is a curing agent for polychloroprene, a plasticiser such as butyl oleate and petroleum hydrocarbon oils, preferably naphthenic, accelerator, such as N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiozole sulfenamide, 2-mercapto imidazoline and tetramethyl thiuram disulphide, and sulphur. The fabric may be of cotton, nylon, polyester or glass and may be grain or rib-stop weave. The coating may be applied by knife-over-roll, reverse roll or dunking and it may be applied to an entire surface or to portions of the surface of the fabric. |
