[Also in Division C3] Triethylammonium, tri-n-propylammonium and triisopropylammonium germanates are prepared by adding the corresponding amine gradually to a suspension of germanium dioxide in ethylene glycol containing a small amount of water, at 85-100‹ C. The solution obtained is used as a catalyst for preparing poly(ethylene terephthalate). |
