Silane cpds. prodn. from technical oleic ester - with partial hydrogenation before reaction with hydro-silane cpd. to give increased yield

In the prodn. of silanes from technical oleic esters (I) (esp. the Me ester; IA) by reaction with hydrogenosilanes (II) in the presence of a catalyst above 50 degrees C, (I) are partially (5-25%) hydrogenated, then reacted with (II) (esp. SiHCl3) in the presence of organic peroxides (III). The prods. are useful as hardeners for binders based on alkali silicates and as additives to antistatics, plasticisers and adhesives. Good yields are obtd if (I) is hydrogenated first, of under 30% without hydrogenation.
