1314516 Combustion control system CAV Ltd 27 July 1970 [7 Aug 1969] 39521/69 Heading F4T [Also in Division F1] In a gas turbine engine including a compressor 12, driven by a turbine 11, for supplying pressurized air for combustion, a valve 14 for controlling fuel flow to a burner 13 in combustion chamber 10, an electric motor 15 for starting the rotor of compressor 12 and the rotor of turbine 11, and fuel ignition means, a combustion control system is provided which comprises a pressure-operable switch 16 responsive to the output pressure of the compressor and operated to open fuel valve 14, by means of electromagnetic device 17, when such pressure exceeds a predetermined value higher than the maximum output pressure achieved in operation of starting motor 15, and a timing device 19, with switch 18, operable for a limited period of time to open valve 14 for starting purposes such that if the output pressure of the compressor does not reach the predetermined value within the limited time period due to flame failure or non-establishment, valve 14 closes to prevent further fuel flow. |
