The temperature-measuring instrument contains a sensor circuit (12) for sensing the temperature variations, which transmits a first signal representing the temperature variation, and a temperature-measuring circuit (14) which responds to the first signal, in order to generate a second signal, which represents the temperature sensed. The measured temperature is displayed over a specific period at a display circuit (44). By actuating a switch (58), the circuits are connected via an automatic, electronic switch (18) to a voltage source (17) during a period which is at least as long as the specific period. Upon expiry of the period, the circuits are automatically switched off and the display is terminated. <IMAGE>
