PURPOSE:To improve the durability and connection workability of connection part by integrally connecting optical fibers with a heating means. CONSTITUTION:After the connecting end parts 3, 4 of both optical fibers 1, 2 to be connected are butted and aligned by using an aligning device, the butt part 5 is heated to about 1600 deg.C by way of a heater 7 using flame spraying or are discharge to soften and melt the end parts 3, 4, thence both end parts are pressure contacted to perform required fusing and connecting. This eliminates the poorness of workability involving the use of sleeve and adhesive agents and enables the connection part of sufficient strength free from aging to be obtained. Further the change and degradation in transmission characteristics at the connection part do not occur because the composition of the connection part is the same as that of the optical fibers 1, 2. |
