PURPOSE:To increase the area using efficiency as well as to realize a miniature size and enhance the output characteristics for the monolithic solar battery featuring less than two units of the solar battery element adjacent to each other, by securing more isolation layers than the number of the solar battery element. CONSTITUTION:SiO2 film 2 is coated on both surfaces of circular N-type Si substrate 1; the photo etching is given radially while matching the positions of both surfaces; and the P-type impurity is diffused through both surfaces to form P--type region 3 piercing through the substrate. Then P<+>-type region 4 linking to region 3 is formed through diffusion on the light receivig surface of substrate 1, but region 3 at the end of substrate 1 is not unified. And region 4 is provided only at region 3 on the rear surface. After this, film 2 on the rear surface is renewed with an window dirlled, N<+>-type region 5 is formed through diffusion within substrate 1, and Al wiring 6 is attached. The both surfaces of the substrate are covered with Cr-Au etching mask 7 to form the circular solar battery containing the air insulating layer at the center part. In this way, the highest and lowest potential elements are separated in order to avoid bowering of the output voltage. |
