PURPOSE:To prepare L-glutamic acid in large amount, by the aerobical cultivation of L-glutamic acid-producing bacterial belonging to Corynebacterium genus, etc., in a medium containing oils and fats, fatty acids, etc., as main carbon source. CONSTITUTION:L-glutamic acid-producing bacteria belonging to Corynebacterium, Arthrobacter, Brevibacterium, of Micrococcus genus, e.g. Corynebacterium alkanolyticum ATCC 21033, are aerobically cultured in a medium containing oils and fats, or fatty acid, pref. saturated or unsaturated fatty acid having 12-18 carbon atoms. After removing the bacterial cells from the medium, L-glutamic acid is recovered from the medium by ion exchange process, concentration and crystallization process, etc. The culturing is carried out at 20-40 deg.C, pref. 28-37 deg.C, and pH4-9, pref. 6-8. |
