Easily dispersible pigments for organic media made by milling the pigment with a solid resinous material and a salt and dissolving out the salt. (a) The resinous material is present in an amount not more than 2 parts by wt. per 3 parts pigment, (b) milling is continued until the average particle size of the pigment is less than 2 mu. (c) the resinous material is at least 5% soluble in the medium to be pigmented (d) an organic liquid may be present during the milling stage which orders the crystalline form of the pigment, provided that the mixture still behaves as a dry powder in the mill. (e) Improved products result if the resin is softened and then rehardened during or after the dissolving out of the salt.
