The portable machine tool which is especially suitable for work in repair shops consists of a frame with four uprights (2, 3) supporting a flat top (1). A drilling machine is mounted on a slide which runs in a guide on the base plate. The base plate is able to pivot about the vertical shaft fixed to the frame top surface. The workpiece is held in the jaws of a vice mounted on a frame (23) which can move vertically by means of a chain drive which is guided on the upright.
