Measurement of heavier-than-air gas contents - using counterbalanced immersed float observed through transparent container window

A gas level meter for containers or systems of containers is designed for use with systems not having press. higher than atmospheric and having gas contents heavier than air, in partic. for SF6 switches. It is designed to enable the container gas level to be simply determined. A float (6) immersed in the gas is counter balanced by a compensating balance wt. (7) and force transfer system (3, 4). The float level indicates the gas content and is observed via a display panel (10). The float and balance wt. are of very different volumes.
