In the method, an auxiliary gas which does not dissolve in the solvent for the acetylene is simultaneously fed to all acetylene-filled cylinders (1) and then the solvent is simultaneously fed to all acetylene-filled and auxiliary-gas-filled cylinders (1). By these measures, the different shortages of solvent are compensated for when several cylinders are being re-filled simultaneously with the solvent.
