1450539 Treating IC engine charge RANCO Inc 28 Dec 1973 [2 Jan 1973] 59983/73 Heading F1B [Also in Division G3] An exhaust gas recirculation system comprises an exhaust gas recirculation valve 14 controlling the flow of exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold 15 to the inlet manifold 13 of an I.C. engine, and a fluid-pressure regulator 34 controlling the pressure applied to the valve 14 in dependence upon the rate of flow of air through Venturi 12, but the signal being modified by a fluid-pressure signal from a control valve 50 dependent upon the pressure prevailing in the inlet manifold 13. The control valve 50 includes a tapered valve-member 60 controlling the bleed of atmospheric air from a vent 55 to the outlet port 56. Should, for example, an increase in vacuum occur in manifold 13 which would tend to raise the valve-member 24 of the valve 14 despite a constant signal from the Venturi 12, the control valve-member 60 admits more bleed air to modify the signal and so hold the valvemember substantially steady. |
