A simple to use and inexpensive holder for advertising signs or boards allows quick exchange of the signs. The advertisement is secured toa mounting plate fixed into a shaft. The latter passes through a retaining nut and locates in a hole in the boss formed on the main fixing plate. The internal form of the boss has a projection onto which locates a similarly-shaped profile on the shaft. A wedge-shaped section on the plug ensures retention.
